Windstream Lays Off 400 Companywide
Windstream Corp. announced that it would cut 400 jobs companywide, including 67 positions in Arkansas and 36 at its Little Rock headquarters and facilities.
The telecom provider said that the cuts were part of an effort to “increase operational efficiency.”
All of the layoffs will occur by March 3, the company said.
“Changes that affect people are never easy, but they are necessary for Windstream to succeed in a highly competitive marketplace,” said CEO Jeff Gardner. “We continue to invest in our growth areas, primarily business services and consumer broadband, and at the same time we must maintain a disciplined approach to expense management.”
The layoffs are expected to save Windstream approximately $20 million annually.
