Whispers hears Randy Hurban, CEO of Tontitown creative branding agency Moxy Ox, is ramping up the digital services arm of the agency’s integrated efforts by hiring Jay Thornton as its chief technical officer.

Thornton started Feb. 10. Most recently, he was running the day-to-day operations and was a co-founder of The Katadhin Co. of Fayetteville, a media and consulting firm he and John Andrews launched in November.

Andrews, you may remember, took a job in January as chief marketing officer for Ignite Social Media, a social media marketing agency in Cary, N.C., and is looping most of the Katadhin business into that company.

Thornton spent four years helping grow Collective Bias and was special projects manager at J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. before that.

Thornton tells us Moxy Ox — founded in 2011, primarily as a printing shop — increased its revenue by 300 percent from 2012 to 2013.
