Longtime Realtor George Faucette Scales Back With Company
Veteran realtor George Faucette said Thursday morning that contrary to rumors circulating in the real estate world, he’s not retiring.
Faucette, co-CEO of leading real estate firm Coldwell Banker Harris McHaney Faucette of Fayetteville, however, did confirm he’s taking a step back from his firm and handing off more of the daily duties to co-CEO Pat Harris.
Meanwhile, Faucette said he is leaving Feb. 14 for Tanzania in east Africa for a nearly two-week photo safari. And travel, as well as the opportunity to spend more time with his wife, Rosemary, and four grandchildren, is why he recently announced a partial passing of the torch to Harris.
“I’m not retiring,” he said. “My wife and I are going to do some traveling and play with some grandkids, but I’m not retiring.”
While he’ll play a less active role in the real estate side of the firm, Faucette will maintain the title of co-CEO, at least for now, and he’ll still continue in his role as the firm’s de facto CFO.
“That won’t change and I’ll still have an office in Fayetteville,” he said.
At age 69, Faucette said it’s time to enjoy the simple pleasures of life, like family, and the more extravagant joys of crossing items off his unofficial “bucket list,” he said.
Faucette said he’s been thinking about this life change for quite a while, and now is the time to make the move.
CBHMF, according to the most recent data published by the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal, is the top real estate firm in Northwest Arkansas in terms of revenue, with total volume of $423.88 million in 2012.
