Gray Tea Leaves
Told to us recently by a mover and shaker: “The biggest Whisper in Springdale right now is what Darin Gray is going to do next.”
So let’s start there. And it’s a great question. One we’ve been asked countless times since Feb. 3, when the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal published a story announcing Darin’s departure as CEO of the company that owns this publication.
We love a good scoop as much as you. But whatever the grand plan is, Darin hasn’t let us in on the big reveal.
Is there a political future on the horizon? Maybe so — and you should hope so — but it’s certainly not on the immediate horizon.
Is divorce approaching for Darin and his wife of 23 years? Hardly. And yes, that’s one of the wild speculations that’s been presented to us over a cup of coffee.
The only development we can pass along is this: On Feb. 7, after meeting with Gov. Mike Beebe in Little Rock, Darin resigned as a member of the Arkansas State Parks, Recreation and Travel Commission, effective immediately. His term was to expire in 2019.
Analyze those tea leaves accordingly.
