Rob Turner of Turner Light Covers, which manufactures a mounted recessed light cover, won first place in the 2013 NWA Startup Cup competition and will receive professional services valued at $7,500.
Turner will also be eligible to submit an entry into the World Startup Cup competition in Armenia in March.
Jared and Sunniva Ritter, owners of Solgave Animal Solutions, which offers professional pet sitting, dog walking and other pet-related services, took second place and will receive $5,000 in professional services.
Mike Gillespie, owner of Storage in Motion, which produces storage for firearms in vehicles and homes, finished third and has qualified for $2,500 in professional services.
The aim of the Startup Cup is to encourage entrepreneurship while also exposing entrepreneurs to mentors who can teach them how to improve their business models.
Founded in Tulsa in 2007, the Startup Cup franchise is now a global network with affiliates in more than 45 countries.
