The National Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association announced Jan. 9 that Bo Mattingly won the 2013 Arkansas Sportscaster of the Year Award, and Robbie Neiswanger won the 2013 Arkansas Sportswriter of the Year Award.

Finalists for the award were nominated by NSSA members from October to November, according to a news release, and final balloting took place in December.

Mattingly is a two-time Sportscaster of the Year and is the host of the statewide Sports Talk With Bo radio show, which originates in Fayetteville.

Neiswanger, a first-time winner, covers sports at the University of Arkansas for the Arkansas News Bureau and is based in Fayetteville.

The NSSA is a nonprofit organization based in North Carolina that consists of 1,100 sportscasters and sportswriters from across the country.

In June, the organization will host its annual awards weekend that culminates with an awards banquet and hall of fame induction.

Mattingly and Neiswanger will be honored along with a sportscaster and sportswriter from each state, as well as the national sportscaster and sportswriter of the year.
