Crunch Time

A local tech company continues to play in the big leagues.

Fayetteville-based DataRank sought a nomination and was selected to compete in the 7th annual Crunchies Awards, put on by TechCrunch, a leading technology online media source owned by AOL Inc. and based in San Francisco.

The Crunchies, known as the “Oscars of Tech,” awards top technology companies and achievements in 20 categories. Although the social media analytics dashboard did not make it to the finals, if it had, it would have joined the likes of Kickstarter, Twitter, Netflix and Tinder and would have been up against technical innovations and programs like the Apple A7 Processor, Yahoo Weather, Snapchat and Vine. You can’t really complain about losing to the companies on that list.

This was not the first time DataRank was chosen for an elite national program. The company also participated last fall in TechCrunch’s Y Combinator event, a biannual program that provides seed money, advice, and person-to-person networking connections for startups.
