The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) is accepting entries for its annual Environmental Stewardship Award to recognize citizens or organizations for their efforts to protect and enhance the state’s environment.

The “ENVY Award” was established in 2005 to honor a major contribution by an individual or organization involving environmental stewardship activities in Arkansas. Previous winners include Dassault Falcon Jet, Jonesboro Frito-Lay, McKee Foods Corporation of Gentry and Little Rock Wastewater.

Nomination packets must be postmarked by March 14, 2014, in order to be considered for the award. There are 5 categories for nominees to compete for awards: Innovation, Green Government, Environmental Education and Outreach, Environmental Improvement or Enhancement, and Sustainability.

More information on criteria for the award can be found by accessing the ENVY Award link in the “Hot Topics” box on the agency’s website at www.adeq.state.ar.us.
