Sather Leaving for Des Moines CBS Affiliate

Brian Sather, president and general manager of local ABC affiliate KHBS/KHOG-TV, Channels 40/29, since 2010, is leaving the station for the same job at KCCI-TV, a CBS affiliate in the Des Moines/Ames, Iowa television market.

Both affiliates are owned by Hearst Television Inc. KCCI-TV is the company’s No. 1-ranked CBS affiliate.

Sather is replacing Paul Fredericksen, who announced his retirement in Septemebr after more than four decades in the television business.

“Brian has a strong understanding of the local television business and a proven track record of success at our stations in Ft. Smith/Fayetteville and Omaha,” David J. Barrett, Hearst Television chairman and CEO, said in a news release. “He will do an excellent job in leading KCCI and building upon the outstanding foundation developed by Paul.”

Sather’s successor at KHBS/KHOG-TV will be announced at a later date, according to the news release.
