Report: Darr Misspent $44,000 in Campaign Funds
An investigation by the Arkansas Ethics Commission found Wednesday that Lt. Gov. Mark Darr misspent more than $44,000 in campaign funds, according to a report from Little Rock FOX affiliate KLRT-TV.
Darr did not speak to reporters Wednesday after leaving a closed-door hearing in Little Rock. His attorney, Dan Greenberg, said Darr would have a statement after a final disposition of the complaint, according to the report.
The AEC received a report from a staff investigator that found twelve violations of state statutes related to campaign spending. It must now decide if there is probable cause to issue any sanctions against Darr.
On Aug. 29, he dropped out of the race for U.S. Congress after reports surfaced of Darr’s campaign expenditures.
The campaign exit came just 17 days after Darr announced he would move from Springdale to his hometown of Mena to fulfill the residential requirement of running for the Republican nomination to represent the 4th Congressional District.
