Cotton Unveils New TV Ad Featuring His Mom, Military Service
Cong. Tom Cotton (R) rolled out a new TV ad on Tuesday (Nov. 26) that features his mother and touts the biography of the Republican Senate hopeful’s military service.
The ad will initially air in the Jonesboro television market the day after Thanksgiving and through the holidays.
Cotton’s mother, Avis, talks about her husband’s service as an infantryman in Vietnam and the difficulty of the Christmas holidays while he was away when they were newlyweds.
“But Christmas was harder when our son was in Afghanistan,” she says. “Tom has a passion to serve our country. After Harvard, he gave up a great career to volunteer for the Army. They offered to make him a military lawyer, but Tom insisted on the infantry, just like his dad.”
The Cotton campaign tells Talk Business that the ad is meant to serve as a defining, introductory ad for the candidate. Cotton’s current Congressional District covers southern and western Arkansas. The Jonesboro market in northeast Arkansas is new territory for Cotton to connect with voters.
