Report: Fayetteville Administrator Arrested
Northwest Arkansas NBC affiliate has reported that Barry Gebhart, a longtime coach and administrator at Fayetteville Public Schools, was arrested last night in Benton County and charged with Internet stalking of a child.
Gebhart, 50, has a bond hearing scheduled for 1:30 Wednesday afternoon, according to the report.
Gebhart, a Fayetteville alum, was a successful head basketball coach at FHS for 17 years until resigning in March 2010. He was named the district’s athletics director in December 2009.
Fayetteville school superintendent Vicki Thomas released a statement Wednesday morning that said: “Barry Gebhart has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest on Tuesday, October 22. He will remain on administrative leave pending the outcome of the police investigation. We are cooperating fully with the police in the investigation and will have no further comment at this time.”
