NWA Startup Weekend Set For November
Startup Weekend, a global initiative to empower and educate entrepreneurs, is coming to Northwest Arkansas.
The 54-hour event is open to designers, web developers and anyone who is interested in being part of a local startup community.
A wide variety of individuals attend these events, from successful entrepreneurs, to those whose products/companies are still in the conceptual phase, to corporate-types who want to get a taste of the startup world, said Jordan Carlisle, one of the organizers for the event.
During the weekend, participants will be given a chance to pitch an idea for a startup. Teams will then be formed around the top ideas.
At the end of the weekend, the teams will make a presentation and judges will decide which has the best startup plan.
Team coaches will advise participants throughout the process. Coaches include successful local entrepreneurs, graphic designers and web developers.
The event is set for Nov. 15-17 at The Iceberg on West Spring Street in Fayetteville.
Tickets are $75 and are available at northwestarkansas.startupweekend.org. Students receive a 30-percent discount.
