Arkansas Republicans Bring Rand Paul To State
The Republican Party of Arkansas announced today that Kentucky U.S. Senator Rand Paul will speak at a party event on December 6 in Hot Springs. Tickets to the event will be $50 and be sold through Ticketmaster starting on October 22.
“I am honored that Senator Rand Paul, a champion for constitutional liberties and fiscal responsibility at the national level, has chosen to become a part of our efforts to grow our conservative majority in Arkansas. I look forward to welcoming Senator Paul to the Natural State as our special guest in December,” said RPA Chairman Doyle Webb.
A hero of the Tea Party, Paul was elected in 2010 as part of the Republican tidal wave during the mid-term elections. He is the son of former Congressman Ron Paul, who has run for President several times as both a Republican and a Libertarian.
Most believe Rand Paul will run for the Republican Presidential nomination in 2016.
He is a stanch advocate of more limited federal government both domestically and in foreign affairs. His stances often put him at odds with not only Democrats, but members of his own party while endearing him to libertarian-leaning Republicans who refer to themselves as the “Liberty Movement.”
In March, Paul led a filibuster for over 12 hours during the confirmation of CIA Director John Brennan to question the possible use of drones domestically.
