Special Exhibit
1942 Military Harley-Davidson
Through September 30, 2013

To attract visitors to the annual “Bikes, Blues and BBQ” event in Fayetteville this week, the Fort Smith Museum of History is featuring a 1942 Harley-Davidson in a special exhibit.  General William O. Darby rode a similar model in Italy during WWII.  General Darby was the founder of Darby’s Rangers and a Fort Smith native.  The Museum houses the William O. Darby Memorial Room featuring the famous general’s artifacts.  The special exhibit also hopes to raise awareness for the General Darby Legacy Project, an effort to raise funds to erect a stature of General Darby in downtown Fort Smith.  The motorcycle may be viewed in the Museum lobby through September 30.
