Thursday Kudos: Searcy-based Road Systems Renamed Con-way Manufacturing

NEW NAME
Road Systems, Inc. (RSI),a trailer manufacturer and subsidiary of Con-way Inc., changed its name to Con-way Manufacturing, effective immediately. Con-way Manufacturing is a subsidiary of Con-way Inc., a $5.6 billion freight transportation and logistics services company.

Con-way Manufacturing produces trailing equipment for the less-than-truckload and full-truckload over-the-road freight transportation markets. In addition to manufacturing factory-new trailers, the company also specializes in trailer refurbishing, and applying specialized processes, tooling and expertise to refurbish and rebuild used trailers to like-new condition, while recycling up to 80 percent of existing trailer components and material.

Road Systems was founded in 1977 and today Con-way Manufacturing is the exclusive provider of freight trailers and trailing equipment for Con-way Freight.

ASU NAMES NEW CHIEF OF STAFF
Shawnie Carrier has been appointed chief of staff for Dr. Tim Hudson, chancellor of Arkansas State University.

President and CEO of the Arkadelphia Regional Development Alliance and Area Chamber of Commerce for the past four years, Carrier’s experience includes working with business and community development, marketing and recruitment strategies. A graduate of Arkansas State, she spent a decade working in regional economic development and building community relations.

As Chief of Staff, Carrier will serve as the liaison for the chancellor to various constituent groups, providing project leadership for specific non-profit or board directed organizations, community and economic development project oversight and management of stakeholder relationships.

Carrier received her bachelor’s degree in journalism and public relations from ASU and continued her education as a graduate of the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute and the Institute for Organizational Management, receiving a professional IOM certification. She begins her new post with ASU on Sept. 16.

HOSPITAL ACCOLADE
Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville, Arkansas was recently named one of the HealthStrong Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) in the United States.

Howard Memorial Hospital scored best among CAHs on the iVantage Health Analytics Hospital Strength Index. The Hospital Strength Index is a first-ever comprehensive rating of CAHs, and the results recognize the Top 100 CAHS that provided a “safety-net” to communities across rural America, measuring them across 56 different performance metrics, including quality, outcomes, patient perspective, affordability and efficiency.
