David Rothenberger has been named the chief financial officer for Sparks Health System in Fort Smith and Summit Medical Center in Van Buren.

Both hospitals are operated by Naples, Fla.-based Health Management Associates. His new role also includes managing finances for the company’s Texas and Oklahoma markets.

Rothenberger has more than 25 years of experience with hospital financial operations.  He previously served as Arkansas Market CFO in 2010, before overseeing finances for Health Management’s Division Two and Florida Group.

He replaces Richard Boone, who in April was promoted to overseeing operations/finance for the Southern and Western Group of Health Management facilities, which includes Sparks and Summit.

Rothenberger earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Louisiana State University-Shreveport.
