Oklahomans File Against Rogers Businessman

Remember Hunter Burroughs? The one who left all those people high and dry, to the tune of about $1 million, when his company, Feet Plus/Prevention Plus, went belly up last year?

Well, Whispers heard from a little birdie shortly after our article was published in June. That bird sang a woeful song about back wages and vacation pay being owed to employees.

A phone call to the Oklahoma Department of Labor confirmed as much, with 11 wage claims filed against the company.

We tracked down records for five of the claims. One employee, in an explanation of the claim, wrote, “We were told by an HR assistant that we would not be receiving our payroll checks and she didn’t know why.”

Another employee was told she would not be paid due to “lack of funds.”

The five claims added up to $14,015, or about $2,800 each — quite a sum for people who work for a living.

But here’s the kicker, and what makes this story so sad.

When his employees started finding out they weren’t getting their checks, they began wondering what happened to Burroughs.

“I found out he was on vacation while all this transpired,” one former employee said. “Yes. I was told he was in Belize living it up.”
