J.B. Hunt Earnings Climb
J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc., second quarter 2013 net earnings of $87.7 million compared to $80.5 million one year ago. The Lowell-based trucking and transportation giant saw quarterly revenues rise to $1.38 billion compared to $1.26 billion for the second quarter of 2012.
Company officials said load growth tied to its Intermodal business and its Integrated Capacity Solutions pushed revenues higher. Also Dedicated Contract Services (DCS) boosted income and profits. The company’s Trucking sector continued its decline.
A breakdown of segment revenue for the quarter is as follows:
Second Quarter 2013 Segment Revenue:
- Intermodal (JBI): $855 million, up 12%
- Dedicated Contract Services (DCS): $303 million, up 13%
- Integrated Capacity Solutions (ICS): $132 million, up 20%
- Truck (JBT): $101 million, down 20%
