Cong. Griffin Co-delivers National GOP Response
Second District Cong. Tim Griffin (R-Arkansas) and Ninth District Cong. Todd Young (R-Indiana) co-delivered this week’s national Republican response to the President’s national address.
Griffin and Young spoke about their efforts this past week to pass legislation regarding the Obamacare employer mandate and a delay of the individual mandate.
“The whole thing is a train wreck, plain and simple,” Griffin said about the federal health care law. He cited an example he’s used recently of an Hispanic-American businessman whose company has 45 employees, just under the health care mandate of 50 full-time employees.
“.. According to him, he’s ready to hire 10 or 20 more, but he can’t because Obamacare makes him choose between new, higher insurance premiums or hefty fines. He said ‘the government should be my partner, so I can help my employees prosper. I can help them more than the government, but I’m literally not able to.'” said Griffin.
Griffin’s and Young’s measures passed the House easily last week, but the legislation is not likely to be considered in the Democrat-controlled Senate and Obama has threatened a veto of the measure if it were to make it to his desk.
