Sleep System Debuts in Rogers

Sleep in Motion, an innovative sleep system manufactured in Gravette, is now available in all Mattress King outlets. Made to simulate the gentle rocking of the ocean, the Sleep in Motion frame tilts back and forth from head to foot and has eight speed settings.

Sleep in Motion held a news conference June 14 at the Mattress King location in Rogers to announce the partnership between the two companies. Moving forward, Sleep in Motion will look to establish its brand nationally, said Jim Flemister, the Fort Worth entrepreneur who invented the product.

Flemister, whose background is in aviation, said he got the idea for the system in 2007, when he was on a Mediterranean cruise. The way his bed was configured, it rocked head to foot along with the ship. He slept so well, he said, that he wanted to create a sleep system that had the same effect.

While comfort is king, Flemister also said the bed is good for one’s health, as the rocking motion stimulates the flow of spinal fluid.

When it came time to actually build the system, which can accommodate spring, latex and memory foam mattresses, Flemister contacted Gary Kinion, who is based in Gravette.

The company currently employs 16 people and works out of a 3,500-SF facility. If sales increase and more room is needed, Sleep in Motion would consider a move to an undisclosed location in Tontitown, Flemister said.

A king-sized Sleep in Motion bed retails for $5,495, while a queen retails for $5,395.
