Rockwell Exhibit Earns Best Reception at Crystal Bridges
The traveling art exhibit American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell attracted more than 121,000 people to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art during its 11-week run that ended May 27, according to a news release.
Officials from the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Mass., said attendance at the Bentonville museum was the highest from the exhibit’s 12 previous stops, including Sacramento, Detroit, Raleigh and Orlando.
“We believed that this outstanding exhibition of a beloved artist’s work would resonate with our guests, and we’re gratified to see just how meaningful it was to so many people,” said Crystal Bridges executive director Rod Bigelow.
Crystal Bridges will host two exhibitions starting in late June — Angels & Tomboys: Girlhood in 19th-Century American Art and Surveying George Washington. Both exhibitions run June 29 through September 30.
