Jonesboro A&P Reviewing Convention Center Plan
Developers are looking at transforming nearly 40 acres at the Arkansas Services Center property in Jonesboro into a new regional convention center and hotel.
The Jonesboro Advertising and Promotion Commission is moving forward with a review of the $4 million land plan to prep the site for potential development. The A&P Commission would then have the ability to execute a 99-year land lease for the future development of the property, according to discussion in this report from KASU-FM 91.9.
Reporter Jonathan Reaves says a previous deal with the John Q. Hammons Co. fell through last year.
The current project would be located near the Highway 63 bypass, a busy traffic conduit in northeast Arkansas with other hotels within a one-mile radius.
The A&P Commission has until September 18 to perform due diligence on the proposal.
