Webster University Fort Smith Celebrating 24th Local Commencement Ceremony
On May 18th, at11 a.m., the Fort Smith Webster University campus will hold its 24th graduation ceremony. The ceremony will take place in Adelaide Hall on Garrison Avenue in downtown Fort Smith. Master’s degrees in Business Administration and Human Resources Management will be awarded. The Fort Smith campus, located in the Old Library, is one of more than one hundred extended campuses throughout the world.
Webster’s home campus, founded in 1915, is located in St. Louis, Missouri, and has offered working adults the opportunity to pursue their graduate degrees since the early 1970’s.
Dr. Kimberley Gordon, a member of the Center for Business and Professional Development (CBPD) at UAFS will be the Commencement Speaker. Dr. Gordon teaches in the Workforce Leadership Program and provides customized training and development for local companies, such as Baldor/ABB and Pernod Ricard, both represented in this year’s graduating class. Previously, Dr. Gordon worked in human resources and organizational development in the corporate world at the Fortune 100 level.
Dr. Gordon’s background is similar to many of the graduates, who continue to pursue higher education while employed full time. She recently completed a Doctorate of Education in Workforce Development Education from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville during which time she also sponsored a group of UAFS students on a study abroad program to Peru. She volunteers with a number of community organizations as well.
The following area students will be receiving graduate degrees: James Bottjen, Deanna Cagle, Rodney Feimster, Felicia Green, Brian Harper, Greg Hurst, Christian Martins, Jennifer Moffett, Chris Norwood, Kaylee Rainwater, Tim Sneed, Scott Whittenberg, and Marvin Wilson.
