A container ship chugging across the Pacific Ocean is carrying big pieces of equipment for Core Brewing and Distilling Co. in Springdale.

Jesse Core, founder of Core Brewing, said 10 50-barrel fermenters, five 50-gallon brite tanks and two filters are on that ship, which departed from one of the world’s busiest ports, Qingdao, in Shandong Province, China.

The equipment will arrive at the Port of Los Angeles, the busiest port in the United States, and will be shipped overland to Springdale in 53-foot containers.

The equipment is set to arrive June 12. When it’s operational as soon as two weeks later, Core said his brewery will “absolutely” have the largest production capacity in Arkansas.

“We need the equipment,” Core said. “We need the expansion.”

With more fermenters, Core Brewing will double its current footprint of 5,000 SF. The expansion includes a new tasting room, where customers can sample the brewery’s seasonal offerings as well as Core’s flagship product, the ESB.

“We’re pumped,” Core said.
