Cook: Mark Darr’s Childish Pride

Arkansas Republicans are just so darn cute when they try to talk tough. Sort of like 4-year olds who can talk tough, but lack the motor skills to back it up. Strike that, even 4-year olds sometimes know when to keep quiet.

But unlike a 4 year old, our own Lt. Governor sometimes doesn’t know when to keep quiet. The latest in a long line of “Mark Darr foot-in-mouth” stories is over a Tweet he sent out today sharing a text message conversation he had with his nephew who is attending Boy’s State.

First read Darr’s Tweet:

I’ll avoid skewering Darr’s nephew since he’s only a teenager and I shudder to think if the stupid things I said at that age had made their way to a blog. Darr’s nephew’s text is wrong, but let’s give the kid a pass.

But notice the childish pride Darr takes in his nephew’s desire to slap someone who he disagreed with philosophically? You would think the Lt. Governor was the child encouraging his nephew to actually slap someone because he dared to have a different opinion than him.

Hard to take pride in an elected official when he encourages teenagers to slap folks.

Although, if Arkansans are in a slap-happy mood, maybe they should give consideration in taking action against Republican state legislators who gave exclusive tax cuts to the wealthy, while at the same time cut college scholarships and started charging for the first time ever those who desire to take their GED.

That’ll almost make ya feel like slapping someone silly.
