Royal Update from Eureka Springs

Some readers might remember our late October story about Steve and Lata Lovell’s efforts to convert the Queen Anne Mansion in Eureka Springs into a private residence club.

In that story, we deemed the Queen Anne as “a museumlike model of 19th-century opulence,” which is as close as we could get to describing a place that probably needs to be seen to be truly understood. Regardless, it seems the Queen Anne has benefited from a couple of upgrades since October.

For starters, the Lovells purchased adjacent property that resulted in parking lot improvements. We understand a resort-style swimming pool also has been added.

It also seems the Lovells are getting closer to reaching the threshold needed to open the Queen Anne as a private residence club. Steve Lovell said 24 ownership interests need to be sold before it’s feasible to hire the staff necessary to operate it.

Monthly viewings for prospective buyers are being held, and more than 50 attended in March. An undisclosed number of reservation agreements also have been signed, and those will be converted to contracts once the threshold is reached.

Lovell said he is hopeful the threshold will be reached in “two or three months,” which means the private residence club could be fully operational later this year.

The Queen Anne is now affiliated with The Registry Collection, a worldwide luxury property exchange program.
