Former Sen. Blanche Lincoln Officially Files As A Lobbyist For Wal-Mart
Former Sen. Blanche Lincoln has been working as a “Senior Policy Advisor” to Alston & Baird in Washington D.C. since her departure in 2010. You probably have seen her on cable news advocating primarily for small business interests.
As of yesterday, her status as a D.C. lobbyist became official as she filed the necessary paperwork to lobby on behalf of Walmart.
According to the paperwork, she will be working with Robert Holifield also of Alston in advocating on behalf of the largest company from her home state of Arkansas. Holifield worked with Lincoln on the Senate Committee for Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry.
Senate rules require a two-year cooling-off period before former members can register as lobbyists, and Lincoln’s time period just ran out earlier this year. The effective date of the registration is February 20, 2013.
