Bubba Love: A Benefit Concert at La Huerta
Four headline bands and a legion of noted musicians will take the stage March 30 to perform during a benefit for one of their own. Steve "Bubba" Carter, a founder of Fort Smith party band Mr. Cabbagehead and the Screaming Radishes, has been diagnosed with stomach cancer. Proceeds from the event will help offset his medical expenses.
Bubba Love: A Benefit Concert will be held at La Huerta, 400 Garrison Avenue, Fort Smith. It begins at 7 p.m. and will go until the music stops.
The headliners will be Grant Pierson and Steve Defresne, Terri and the Executives, The Tom Ware Trio and, of course, Mr. Cabbagehead and the Screaming Radishes. Sound will be provided by Annidale Sound. The audience also will hear selections from any number of performers who will take the stage in support of Carter, called the heart and soul of the band by its lead singer, the soulful Rick Young.
For more than 28 years, Mr. Cabbagehead and the Screaming Radishes has provided musical entertainment for countless nonprofit organizations and benefits.
Admission is by donation at the patio door. The first 100 attendees will receive a "Team Bubba" bracelet for their donations. Also, concert T-shirts will be available for purchase.
