And the Winner is (Editor’s Note)

First, it’s the Golden Globes. Then come the People’s Choice Awards. Then the Grammys, then the Oscars.

If it’s winter, and the wife has the remote control, odds are I’m watching somebody walk down a red carpet or fondle some statuette. That’s just the way it is in my house.

As a result, I’ve learned pasties aren’t always something you put on your keyboard. I might also add I’m still not sure if Anne Hathaway would have been better off wearing a couple when she picked up that Best Supporting Actress award last month.

What I do know is we here at the Business Journal are about to enter our own awards season. And while red carpet isn’t exactly our style, we nonetheless enjoy celebrating those in our business community who have earned a little recognition, if not a tiny gold man.

We’ll kick off things off later this month with the A-List, an event designed to honor excellence in residential real estate. It’s not the first time we’ve honored local Realtors, but it’s the first time we’ll be doing it in a castle (check out the ad on p. 7 for details).

We’ll cap things off with the long-running Forty Under 40 issue and program in August. It’s an event that seems only to get better with age.

In between, we’ll once again recognize up-and-comers among the under-30 crowd at Fayetteville’s Pratt Place Inn, where the younger set’s energy and enthusiasm give the evening a certain buzz that feels contagious. Our Fast 15 issue and event, frankly, has become one of the highlights of our year.

As a reminder, nominations close March 29. In the meantime, please visit www.nwabusinessjournal.com and click on the “Best in Class” tab to nominate your own shining star.
