ESPN Radio fans in the Fayetteville market now have a local option.

Hog Sports Radio 99.5 FM in Springdale began broadcasting ESPN programming Feb. 12. The station, which operates out of studios in Springdale, had been airing programming provided by Yahoo Sports.

HSR general manager Dan Storrs said the station “was flooded” with phone calls and emails requesting the switch after another local station, KQSM-FM 92.1, switched from ESPN programming to that of CBS Sports Radio on Jan. 2. That switch was made as a result of a change in programming for Cumulus Media-owned stations nationwide.

After what HSR station owner Jay Bunyard deemed “extensive” negotiations, it reached an agreement to broadcast some ESPN programs, including shows featuring Colin Cowherd, Scott Van Pelt and Ryen Russillo, and Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic.

Storrs also indicated local programs “The Wake Up Call” with Steve Weimer and Nick Mason, and “The Lunch Hour” with Bobby Joe Edmonds will continue to air on the station. HSR also will continue to broadcast University of Arkansas football and men’s basketball games.
