This time, it was grandma who knew best.

“My grandmother always told me I would be an engineer,” Jeremy Stobaugh said. “I didn’t really even know what that was. I just knew I liked to build things, tear them down, and build them again. I always liked to fix things.”

Flash-forward 13 years into his career and Stobaugh is using his engineering skills to maintain, or “fix”, the information system at J.B. Hunt, overseeing a $5 million operating budget as one of the company’s director of information services.

Those responsibilities were given to Stobaugh after a fast rise in the company. He received four promotions in just four years with the company after being hired as a project manager in 2005.

“Younger folks who come to work for me who have heard my story ask me what exactly happened and what my recommendations would be for them," he said.

A Morrilton native, Stobaugh received his undergraduate degree in computer system engineering from the University of Arkansas and later got his managerial MBA from UA.

Stobaugh spends his free time helping coach his two kids’ baseball and basketball teams and customizing and “tinkering” with motorcycles and old cars.
