Forty Under 40: J.R. Carroll
If J.R. Carroll had kept the streak alive and attended LSU like the rest of his family, who knows what he would be doing now.
Instead, the White Hall native went against his family’s wishes, attended the University of Arkansas, and eventually got his law degree.
That decision in 1995 was a springboard to Carroll’s current job, where he handles cases for international clients on a regional and national basis.
Carroll is also an NFL Players’ Association licensed agent and represents former Razorbacks Ryan Mallett, Cobi Hamilton and Ross Rasner.
“I think my career has gone quicker than I thought it would, but that has a lot to do with the people I’ve been fortunate enough to be around and learn from,” said Carroll, who specializes in product liability, Japanese clients, banking and sports law.
Carroll knew early he wanted to build his career in Northwest Arkansas, opting for a career in Fayetteville over opportunities in Little Rock, Dallas and Memphis.
“The simple fact is when I moved to Northwest Arkansas I knew I didn’t ever want to leave,” Carroll said. “My paycheck was cut in half so I could stay here.”
Carroll serves on the board of the Eddie Armstrong Foundation, an organization which specializes in scholarships for single parents. He’s also involved in the Fayetteville Boys and Girls Club.
