Jeb Bush Coming To Arkansas For Education Reform Rally
Jeb Bush, former governor of Florida, will be the keynote speaker at an education reform rally and summit to be held by A+ Arkansas on Tuesday, January 29 in Little Rock at the Doubletree Hotel.
A+ Arkansas, a coalition of parents, educators and community leaders, will be hosting the event in conjunction with National School Choice Week. The group's web site says it will “fight for reforms that will increase accountability in schools and improve opportunities for Arkansas’ youth.”
Bush, chairman of the Foundation for Excellence in Education, and Georgia Rep. Alisha Morgan (D) will discuss education reform efforts in Arkansas and in other states.
Laurie Lee, Executive Director of the Arkansas Reform Alliance which is affiliated with A+ Arkansas, said the state doesn’t have to settle for the status quo any longer.
“If Arkansans can come together, rally around an issue that's not just imperative to our future and our children, but our economic future as a state, we can really make a difference,” Lee said. “Our rally and summit will be a first step to implementing effective change.”
Other speakers and participants include Arkansas businessmen Claiborne Deming, Bill Dillard, and Jim Walton.
