KAB Commission Picks Two To Lead Group

The Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission (KAB) has re-elected the Rev. Dr. Thurston Lamb of North Little Rock as chairman and has elected Georgette Garner of Eureka Springs as vice chairman for 2013.

Lamb was initially appointed to the commission in 2002 and reappointed in 2007 to represent Arkansas’ 2nd Congressional District. He is pastor of Bethel AME Church in Lonoke and serves as a trustee of Shorter College at North Little Rock.

Lamb was a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America for 12 years and a community organizer in the Little Rock area for the Economic Opportunity Agency. He currently serves as coordinator of ecumenical affairs for the Twelfth Episcopal District of the African Episcopal Methodist Church.

Garner was appointed to the commission in 2007 and reappointed in 2012 to represent Arkansas’ 3rd Congressional District. Since her retirement from the U.S. Department of State in 1996, she has served in many capacities for volunteer organizations.

They include Eureka Springs Garden Club president; Keep Carroll County Beautiful founding member, Botanical Garden Society of the Ozarks in Fayetteville ambassador and Carroll County coordinator for the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department’s ‘Operation Wildflowers.’
