Classes Designed to Provide Overview, Strategic Planning

The University of Arkansas Global Campus is offering a two-part professional development series aimed at helping businesses and organizations maneuver through the phased implementation of changes spurred by the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

The three-hour sessions will be offered Jan. 14 and Feb. 4 at the UA Global Campus facility in Rogers. They are designed to teach business professionals not just how to implement provisions of the health care law, commonly referred to as Obamacare, but also make sure their organizations are structured properly — both legally and administratively — to comply with its guidelines. Execution strategies also will be covered.

“Books on this topic are selling for hundreds of dollars,” Judith Tavano, director of professional development programs at the Global Campus, said in a news release. “These classes are a great value for our clients.”

The classes are $59 each. The first class provides an overview of health care mandates that are to be phased in through 2018. Attendees can earn three general recertification hours for professionals in human resources, senior professionals in human resources, and global professionals in human resources through the Human Resource Certification Institute.

 The second class focuses more on the execution of strategic plans to comply with the new regulations. Attendees can earn the aforementioned recertification hours, pending approval by the HRCI.

Cammie Scott, owner and president of CK Harp and Associates, will serve as the instructor for both classes. Scott is a registered employee benefits consultant, senior professional in human resources and chartered health care consultant, among other credentials.
