Sparks physician captures anesthesia award

Dr. Juston Evenson, the medical director of Sparks Health System’s anesthesia department, was named South Division Anesthesia Medical Director of the Year for 2012 by EmCare.

Sparks Health System contracts with EmCare to provide skilled anesthesiologists for the medical center. The award was presented during EmCare’s annual Leadership Conference Oct. 22-23, in Tampa, Fla.

“Dr. Evenson has done a terrific job in taking over leadership of the Sparks anesthesia team and turning it into one of the best performing groups we have in our division,” said Steve Bartow, vice president of Clinic Administration for the South Division of Emcare. “This year, Dr. Evenson stood head and shoulders above the rest of the anesthesia leaders.”

Evenson received his specialized training at the Saint Louis University Medical Center. He served as a staff anesthesiologist for five years at a clinical practice in Joplin before joining the team at Sparks.

The South Division of EmCare is made up of contracts at more than 160 facilities throughout the southern United States. Contracts involve emergency departments, hospitalists and anesthesia, and one medical director is selected from each specialty to receive this annual award.
