It didn’t take long for someone to point out our Oct. 29 Whisper regarding First Security Bank’s new Bentonville branch contained a gross error.

We wrote the number of bank branches in the state dropped almost 40 percent between June 30, 2011, and June 30, 2012.

What we meant to write was the total number of branches in the state dropped by about 40 — or about 2 percent — during that same period.
