Averitt Express, which has provided warehousing and distribution space in Fort Smith since 1997, has opened a new, larger service center to accommodate customer demand.

The 25,400-SF facility on South Zero Street at Arkansas Highway 45 in Fort Smith has more than 30 dock doors. About 10,000 SF of the building is enclosed for storage, processing and warehousing operations.

“We’re continuing to work with companies who are looking for flexible warehousing options to accommodate spiking inventory levels,” Phil Pierce, executive vice president of sales and marketing, said in a news release. “The Fort Smith market is an ideal location for shippers needing space for storage, processing and distribution between the South and the Southwest and West.”

Greg LaPlant, a spokesman for the Cookeville, Tenn.-based trucking company, said talking with customers about their needs, as well as Averitt’s years of experience with warehousing, indicated this was the right time to expand.

LaPlant said the company serves many industries, including retail, manufacturing and medical supply.
