Raising the Steaks in Rogers?

An enormous sign next to Best Buy in Rogers announcing that a Longhorn Steakhouse is “coming soon” has local steak lovers salivating.

The chain is part of Darden Restaurants Inc., whose holdings also include perennial favorites Olive Garden and Red Lobster.

However, Erica Jaeger, who handles media relations for Orlando, Fla.-based Darden, would only say the company has “targeted” Rogers.

In an email, Jaeger said, “It’s a great trade area and we look forward to serving guests there in the future. We are currently in the due diligence phase of selecting a site.”

In a follow-up email, she added that the owners of the property next to Best Buy allowed the company to post the sign, but no land is under contract at this time.
