Upcoming Republican Convention Coverage From Tampa
Next week, Republicans will gather in Tampa, Florida – provided Tropical Storm Isaac stays away – to officially nominate Gov. Mitt Romney as their party’s nominee for President.
Arkansas delegates are already making their way to Tampa. A group of about twenty delegates and guests – including Lt. Gov. Mark Darr – loaded up in a chartered bus from Little Rock Tours this afternoon.
To keep you up to speed this next week, I have recruited a variety of delegates to send in reports from Tampa.
They include Rep. Ann Clemmer from Bryant, Rep. Andrea Lea from Russellville, Rep. John Burris from Harrison, Rep. Duncan Baird from Lowell, Pulaski County GOP Chair K. Ryan James, Arkansas College GOP Chair Skot Covert from Arkansas Tech, and Washington County Republican Robin Lundstrum from Springdale.
Check back daily for updates.
Monday will feature a couple speakers with Arkansas connections. Former Gov. Mike Huckabee will speak that night and Arkansas’ Second District Congressman Tim Griffin will speak earlier that day. The theme for Monday will be “We can do better,” so look for their speeches to focus on how we can improve our economy such as by moving forward with the Keystone Pipeline.
KARN Newsradio will also be broadcasting live from Tampa so tune in to their station. In addition, the RNC website – The Convention without Walls – has lots of features, such as live-streaming video and apps to keep up to date.
