Student Population at UA Continues to Surge
The University of Arkansas announced Monday another set of groundbreaking enrollment figures, as the second week of classes gets under way.
Preliminary numbers indicate the UA will set fall enrollment records for total enrollment (24,600 students), undergraduate enrollment (20,000+) and freshman enrollment 4,500+).
The preliminary numbers were announced at a campus news conference Monday morning in Fayetteville. Exact figures won’t be official until filed with the Arkansas Department of Higher Education in mid-October.
Undergraduate enrollment at the UA has increased by nearly 37 percent the last five years. In 2009, the university’s total enrollment was just under 20,000.
The UA had total enrollment of 23,199 last fall.
