Sources tell Whispers Tony Beringer, regional vice president for Clear Channel Communications Inc., was fired and escorted from his Fayetteville office on Aug. 15.

Phone calls and emails to Clear Channel officials seeking comment went unreturned as of press time. One source indicated Beringer was fired for “essentially harassment, book cooking, etc.”

Clear Channel owns the top four radio stations — Kix 104, Magic 107.9, Hot Mix 101.9 and 93.3, The Eagle — in the Northwest Arkansas market, according to the most recent ratings made available to the public by Arbitron Inc.
