Walton College Dean Eli Jones Named To Arvest Bank Board
Arvest Bank tagged Dr. Eli Jones, newly appointed dean of the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas and holder of the Sam M. Walton Leadership Chair in Business, has joined the board of directors for Arvest Bank in Fayetteville. Jim Walton, son of Sam, is the majority owner of Arvest Bank.
Jones is the former dean of the E.J. Ourso College of Business and Ourso Distinguished Professor of Business at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La., since 2008. Prior to LSU, Jones has served on the faculty of the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston in Texas.
Jones is taking the board chair previously held by Dan Worrell, who stepped down as Dean of the Sam M. Walton College of Business to return to classroom teaching. Worrell also stepped down from the Arvest Bank in Fayetteville board to devote more time to the classroom.

Jones has received excellence in teaching awards on the university, national and international levels. He has taught strategic selling, advanced professional selling, key accounts selling and sales leadership at the undergraduate and M.B.A. levels; marketing strategy and negotiation skills at the M.B.A. level; a Ph.D. seminar on marketing strategy. He has designed and taught corporate training courses in the United States, Canada, China, Dubai, France, India, Malaysia, Mexico and the United Kingdom.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree in journalism in 1982, his Master of Business Administration in 1986 and his Ph.D. in 1997, all from Texas A&M University.
Jones also serves on the editorial review boards of the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and the Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management.
