Drs. Nuttha Ungnapatanin and David Miller are set to join Sparks Health System.

Ungnapatanin specializes in treating thyroid disease, endocrine conditions and osteoporosis. Beginning Aug. 13, she will be available by appointment at the new Sparks Thyroid and Endocrinology Clinic.

Ungnapatanin attended medical school in Thailand and received her fellowship training in endocrinology at the University of Mississippi. Ungnapatanin is fluent in English and Thai and is looking forward to sharing office space with Dr. Mona Phomakay at Sparks Clinic Family Practice.

Miller, a cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon, will be available for appointments beginning Aug. 1. He is board-certified in Heart, Lung and Vascular Surgery.

According to Sparks, Miller will be the only surgeon in the area who performs “beating heart” surgery without the use of a heart and lung machine. This technique can mean faster recovery times, fewer complications and better outcomes for patients. Miller also specializes in complex heart valve repair surgery and surgical treatments for atrial fibrillation.

Miller received his medical degree from the Oklahoma State University College of Health Sciences and underwent additional training in cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. Before joining Sparks, Miller served as the chairman of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Cardiovascular Services at a Tulsa hospital that was ranked by HealthGrades as the number one cardiac surgery program in Oklahoma in 2008 and 2009.
