Herraka and Wood join Sparks Health System
Herraka will begin seeing patients July 9 at Sparks Gastroenterology Center on the second floor of the Ambulatory Surgery Center at 1001 Towson Ave. in Fort Smith. In addition to diagnosing and treating common digestive disorders, Herraka has an interest in treating inflammatory bowel disease and Hepatitis patients.
He looks forward to establishing his practice and a home for his wife and two young children in Fort Smith.
Wood, is a board-certified fellowship trained interventional radiologist who specializes in neurovascular treatments. Wood’s expertise in endovascular neurosurgery means Sparks is now the only medical facility in this region of the country that provides complete neurovascular care. For stroke victims, that means comprehensive expert care for any stroke of any severity.
Wood, according to Sparks, will utilize the most cutting-edge devices that physically retrieve blood clots from blocked arteries. He also specializes in treating intracranial aneurysms using minimally invasive “coiling” techniques.
Wood treats a number of other conditions such as vertebral compression fractures, peripheral vascular disease, aortic aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and uterine fibroids. He will also work closely with area oncologists to provide the latest in minimally invasive cancer treatments.
Wood is an honors graduate of the University of Arkansas. He attended medical school, residency and fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
