Sign Company Changes Name to Reflect New Focus

Laura Tucker decided to celebrate her business’ 18-year anniversary in part by changing its name.

Formerly Best Banner and Sign, Tucker’s Rogers-based shop became known as Best Sign Group on April 1. The firm’s 18th anniversary is this month.

Tucker said the old name seemed to put more emphasis on banners — which still are part of BSG’s offerings — something she didn’t think about when originally naming the company.

“As a 23-year-old, that was the best name I could come up with,” Tucker said with a laugh. “We’re a full-service sign company these days, and the new name helps us tell that story.”

Specifically, the new name reflects Tucker’s commitment to being more competitive in terms of larger jobs and their required maintenance schedules, as well as “sign packages.”

“We’ll bid the whole thing -— from the lighted sign on the building to the directionals in the parking lot,” Tucker said. “We’ll quote everything from the interior signs in the lobby to the business hours on the front door. You name it, and we can do it — and the more we do, the more our customers save.”

BSG employs a staff of eight, and has watched annual sales climb from about $50,000 to about $1 million, Tucker said. Tucker estimated her firm has handled 75,000 jobs over its history, and includes clients ranging from Home Depot and Academy Sports + Outdoors to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and Pinnacle Hills Promenade.

The name change hasn’t confused any of her longtime customers, Tucker said, and her message to those who inquired about the switch was simple.

“You know me,” Tucker said she told some clients, “but maybe some of these new companies in the area, and companies coming into the area, don’t.”
