After a little more than two years with the station, KHBS-KHOG TV, Channels 40/29, news director Dawn Dugle is no longer with the ABC affiliate. Her last day was May 24.

40/29 president and general manager Brian Sather would not discuss specifics of Dugle’s departure.

“I typically don’t comment on personnel matters,” he said.

Sather said he is advertising nationally for the next head of the newsroom and its 38 employees.

Hearst Television Inc. of New York owns 40/29, which is based in Rogers.

Though the latest market ratings from May will not be released until June 13, 40/29 is generally rated the No. 2 station in the local news market behind KFSM-TV Channel 5.

Ratings are conducted four times each year — May, July, November and February.

Dugle was announced as 40/29’s news director in January 2010. Sather, with Hearst for 15 years, joined the station at roughly the same time.

The station has earned the distinction of having the best newscast in the Fort Smith/Fayetteville market for nine consecutive years, as judged by the Arkansas Associated Press Journalism Awards.
