Is Qedan a Model Inmate

Looks like serial embezzler Jeri Qedan will be a free woman in the next few days.

The scheduled parole hearing Whispers mentioned a while back has been canceled, the Arkansas Parole Board said in a message sent through its victim notification service.

The hearing had been set for July 26.

We put in a call to the parole board, and learned Qedan had applied for the early release program, and qualified because of good behavior. The board has reviewed her paperwork, and was to make its decision June 19. However, that decision won’t be made public until July 3, a parole board employee told us.

Qedan, 49, has served one year of a 10-year sentence — with 30 years suspended — in state prison for stealing $60,000 from her former employer, a Tontitown-based health care staffing firm called The Right Solutions.

The Fayetteville native, also known as Jeri Freshwater, previously served nine months of a 20-year sentence for stealing $74,000 from another employer, Complete Inc. of Springdale. Eighteen years of that sentence were suspended, and she was eligible for parole after nine months for good behavior.
