Dynamic Fuels Sued Over Chicken-Fat Fuel Patent
Neste Oil Oyj, a Finnish oil company, is suing Dynamic Fuels LLC, a joint venture between Tyson Foods Inc. and Tulsa-based Syntroleum Corp., claiming patent infringement.
The suit, filed May 29 in federal court in Delaware, claims Dynamic Fuels’ diesel fuel made from chicken fat violates Neste’s new patent for NExBTL diesel fuel.
Tyson spokesman Gary Mickelson deferred comment to Syntroleum, which denied infringing Neste’s patent rights, and said in a statement that it “intends vigorously to defend against the complaint’s allegations, and is confident that its position will be vindicated.”
Dynamic Fuels makes its product at a plant in Geismar, La. Its customers include the U.S. Navy and Norfolk Southern Railway.
